About SCHC

Who We Are

AboutShenandoah County Free Clinic came about as a result of community leaders who recognized that many health needs of their neighbors were going unmet. Thanks to hundreds of volunteers and donors, Shenandoah County Free Clinic has helped thousands of county residents since opening in June 2002. In 2008, the Shenandoah Dental Clinic opened to provide adults and children with much needed dental services.

Today, both clinics operate as the Shenandoah Community Health Clinic. With a hardworking team of staff and volunteers, the clinic provides over $8 in health services for every $1 it spends.  Eighty percent of the clinic’s funding comes from the community. It is truly neighbors helping neighbors! Ensuring that all our neighbors get needed health services helps protect the entire community from disease and helps our neighbors work and contribute their talents to society. Many times we have seen people rebuild their lives when they regained their health and accessed other assistance from Shenandoah Community Health Clinic.

About SCHCWhat We Do

Shenandoah Community Health Clinic staff and volunteers provide compassionate, quality, and integrated health and human services to all of our patients. We provide both medical and dental services including medication assistance and behavioral health care. For a full list of available services visit our Services page.

Who We Serve

The Shenandoah Community Health Clinic provides medical, dental, and behavioral health services to Shenandoah County residents who are at or below 200% of the federal poverty level, are uninsured or underinsured, and who are committed to improving the quality of their lives.

It was realized years ago that too many Medicaid patients couldn’t access dental care anywhere in the region. Thus dental services are provided to patients who have Medicaid even if they come from nearby areas outside Shenandoah County. The reimbursement from Medicaid helps to subsidize care for our uninsured neighbors. Uninsured dental patients must reside inside Shenandoah County limits.

Clinic patients are our neighbors. They are our family members, friends, and people we see every day as we got to church, school, and even the grocery store.
